Attr. to Gio Ponti for Domus Nova – Coffee Table

SOLD

Very rare Coffee table. The story so far I could find is; That this beautiful walnut table was most likely manufactured by Domus Nova for 'La Rinascente' concept store in 1928, La Rinascente sells under the brand Domus Nova a series of furniture designed by Gio Ponti and Emilio Lancia designed to renew the image of the bourgeois home and decor in Italy. The intention was: 'to provide for a modest price furniture with simple shapes, but tasteful and studied in detail'. The glass top is the original one and has traces of use. It has a chip and user scratches on the top. With the original glass top in hand it's easy to order a new glass top.
Further the wooden frame and horizontal plateau is in a good vintage condition. The design is light and typical Gio Ponti style. And the table is an absolute must have!
